on November 15, 2011

In Francesca Woodman’s series ‘Space’ she explored various ways of concealing and flattening her bodies form, reminding us that all photographs are distortions of reality. Woodman’s photographs in this series take on a form of surrealism the way she used prolonged exposures to create an ethereal, transcendental aura. In a conventional sense woodman’s series ‘Space’ is not a collection of self-portraits, as they explore the possibilities of representation instead of revealing her identity.
